BREATHE NEW LIFE
INTO THIS FORGOTTEN
STRETCH OF YARRA
Melbourne’s most iconic waterway,
Steeped in its maritime past,
an indigenous heritage
spanning tens of thousands of years,
as unique as it is precious.
dormant for 45 years
dismantled piece by piece
catalogued for re-use
ready for its new role
fall back in love with nature,
the concrete and steel facade retained,
ready for its new role
MORE THAN A RIVER,
MORE THAN A SETTING
IT WILL REVEAL ITSELF
Behind the Mission to Seafarers building in the Docklands - a new era of riverfront living emerges. Five-star opulence and everything you love about Melbourne, just a river walk away unveils the Seafarers. A world class apartment living complex for $1.2 million. Its website celebrates luxury lifestyles with references to history and a cosmopolitan rendering of Melbourne as New York:
Centred on an inspired reimagining of the heritage-protected Goods Shed 5 by Fender Katsalidis, the bold sculptural composition of Seafarers is a sublime addition to the cityscape. Its regeneration is a chance to bring the unique island setting back to life while celebrating the location’s rich maritime history.
Taglines are amplified by videos which project penthouse living beyond the megacity,
- an ultimate metropolitan elite as if the future is a Blade Runner hologram where the wealthy exist in permeant fantasy. And even the Sovereign First Peoples get a mention with a lower case “i” as unique as they are precious. A significant rendering even if their markings remain invisible in the concrete.
And as the city morphs into enclaves of elitism the Birrarung breathes.
